MEDUSA- Dave

Hey Guys,
Thanks for letting me join. Here's a little sketch I did tonight. Would have liked to add more detail but it's been a crazy week. Hope you enjoy it looking forward to the next one.

12 - Moonraker

This one is probably my least successful drawing in terms of sticking to the subject of the week.  However, the intention was to draw my impression of what I remember about Moonraker.  The two things that came to mind was 'space' and 'Jaws'.  I was going to look up references for Richard Kiel (Jaws) but again, I decided to draw the Jaws that I remembered as a kid ... someone way more formidable and menacing and a lot less of a punchline.
I had a lot of fun drawing the space suit which, if it isn't obvious, is completely made up.

I dusted off my Copic markers and just played.  This piece took no time at all to draw but was one of the more enjoyable ones I've done.

Thundercats - rh

Panthro-The Best Thundercat!

Who wouldn't want to draw the character voiced by none other than Earle Hyman, Bill Cosby's dad on The Cosby Show!  That guys got the smooooooth chops!  Thundercats was the cartoon for me during all of the 80's, I loved it.  The heroes were great and the villains were really cool.  Come on, Slithe was a bad ass.  These were fun to do, but I don't think I'll clean them up like some of my previous pieces.  I wanted to do these for old time sake.  The left arm got a little over extended in the full body sketch.  Didn't really catch it until it was done.

11 - Thundercats

Despite being a nerd, I never watched Thundercats when I was a kid so I'm not familiar with any of the characters.  I think I needed to do a few more sketches before becoming comfortable drawing this piece.  There were a bunch of costume elements that I flubbed here.

I doodled this while watching the Superbowl and was completely uninspired and bored.  I can tell cause the drawing turned out being uninspired and boring.

**I'm getting tired of drawing in my toon style so I'm going to mix it up a bit in the next few drawings.  I'm saying it now to keep me honest and to keep me from falling back on old habits.

Humanoid Robot-They are the future, and we don't even know it!

Waaaay behind right now, but I worked damn hard on this one and am very happy with it.  Could it use more, sure, but I'm getting there.  I know this is a sketch blog; however, I always feel the need to clean things up.  Posted is the working skeleton and then finished piece.  I was inspired thinking about They Live and Terminator.
